Our club is growing in size, particularly the junior section, and we could really do with more volunteers willing to help out and act as coach from time to time. The club are thinking of running a simple coaching course to try and boost our member’s confidence in taking on these roles. The course may not be EH accredited but would run over several days/sessions and give you some insight into coaching and some confidence to help out when the club really need it.
To register your interest please contact either Kelly Pryde-Fillingham email@example.com or Lucy Craggs firstname.lastname@example.org
The club are looking into running an umpiring course before the new season begins, hoping to get you some experience on the pitch during the pre-season friendlies and tournaments. Also excellent opportunity for new players to brush up on the rules, and maybe help the more experienced of us understand those umpiring decisions?
The club really does need more people to blow the whistle, and don’t forget we have an annual umpire’s award at the end of season dinner to recognise the contributions made by those who help out the club by umpiring our fixtures.

Our Back to Hockey (or B2H, in case you didn’t know!) sessions have proved incredibly popular with some great ladies and men making a return to the sport and even picking up sticks for the first time.
Our B2H group have done us proud and we want to keep this series going a bit longer into July, before things get busy with summer holidays. We will look to run additional sessions in the future, so this won’t be the end of B2H in 2017!
B2H will continue until Tuesday 18th July, and will continue to be 7–8pm. £3 a session.

Was getting fitter one of your New Year resolutions for 2017? Did you play hockey at school then forget about how fun it was until you saw the women’s GB hockey team win gold in Rio? Maybe you just want to find a fun way to keep fit that doesn’t involve lifting weights or mindless pounding of the treadmill?
If you’re new to the game or haven’t played for a while our Back to Hockey coaches will gentle guide you through this series of fun and friendly sessions.
Huddersfield Dragons Hockey Club will be running back to hockey sessions for ladies of all ages and abilities starting this January 2017.
You will be introduced back to the game by mixing in some skills exercises with some small sided game play (eg 5v5, 6v6). However the emphasis is on a friendly and relaxed environment without the pressure to perform.
It’s also an opportunity to get fitter, as each Back to Hockey session burns up to 450 calories (netfit.co.uk)!
Along the way you will also make new friends and become a fully-fledged member of our friendly mixed Hockey Club, with the opportunity to play competitive 11-a-side hockey for one of our 3 ladies’ teams.
Sessions will be every Tuesday night from 6.30pm-7.30pm starting on Tuesday 10th January 2017. Training takes place on the astro turf pitch at Lockwood Park, Brewery Drive, Huddersfield, HD4 6EN.
Please contact our Ladies Club Captain Lucy Craggs for any further information.

The men’s first team have been nominated for sports team of the year award in the Examiner’s annual Pride of Huddersfield awards!! Congratulations Men’s 1’s!
Have you ever heard of the annual Examiner Pride of Huddersfield awards where they look for stars in our community and people who make Huddersfield a great place to live?
Well I have just had an email from the Examiner informing me that the men’s first team have been nominated as a finalist by one of their journalists for sports team of the year.
It means that there will be a piece featured in the paper about the team and a chance to attend the awards dinner in May where the final decision will be made on who wins sports team of the year.
What a great way to end a fantastic season for the club and all the hard work that has been put in to get this nomination. Well done everyone!!
